Miguel R. Aguilo-Seara, M.D. – Medical Director

Miguel R. Aguilo-Seara, M.D., was trained and completed a psychiatric residency at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Washington, D.C.,  a geriatric fellowship at Georgetown University Hospital, and a neurology residency at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia.  He is an advocate for geriatric patients dealing with Degenerative Brain Disease, including Dementia and related behaviors.  In addition to being Haven’s Medical Director, Dr. Seara maintains a private practice, consults with nursing homes, and teaches medical students and geriatric fellows.  He is ranked among the top physicians in Philadelphia by Mainline Today Magazine

Abigail Halloran – Chief Executive Officer

Abigail Halloran brings over 20 years of experience in the mental health field.  She has worked with all age populations and all levels of care.  She has extensive experience with regulatory compliance, knowledge of regulatory requirements, maintaining Performance Improvement programs and initiatives and assisting in the identification, implementation and maintenance of best practice structures.

Monique I. Sexton, MHA – Director of Business Development

An experienced behavioral health professional, Sexton brings leadership, recruitment, marketing strategy, and hospital administration to this position. Most recently, Sexton was a core part of the leadership team and the Director of Strategic Planning and Marketing for Malvern Institute in Malvern, PA where she consistently met goals, increased company revenue, and improved patient census.   Sexton’s personal mission to continually strive for excellence with patients, family and referrals sources was exactly what Haven was looking for in this position.

A graduate of Excelsior College in Albany, NY, Sexton received her Masters in Health Administration from Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia.

Miles C. Ladenheim, M.D., Esq. – Court Liaison

Miles C. Ladenheim, M.D., Esq., is a psychiatrist and lawyer, who has been with Haven since 2014. He has been involved in over 25,000 civil commitment cases on behalf of hospitals since 1992, and frequently gives lectures to attorneys and hearing officers on aspects of Pennsylvania’s Mental Health Procedures Act (which governs 302’s and other involuntary petitions). He was also an Adjunct Professor at Temple Law School, where he formerly taught Mental Health Law.

Ladenheim, holds an A.B. degree from Columbia University, an M.D. degree from the S.U.N.Y. Health Science Center at Brooklyn (formerly Downstate Medical Center) and a J.D. degree (magna cum laude) from the Temple University Beasley School of Law. Ladenheim is Board Certified in General Psychiatry, Forensic Psychiatry and Administrative Psychiatry, and is a Member of the Bar of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania.

Donna K. Busch – Business Office Manager

Donna K. Busch brings over 20 years of experience in business office management. She has extensive knowledge of Medicaid, Commercial and Medicare insurance billing.  Before joining our Leadership team, Busch worked as a Billing Manager for a large multi-state mental healthcare provider and an owner of a consulting firm that worked exclusively with behavioral healthcare providers throughout the country improving their business process.

Theresa S. Byrd – Director of Human Resources

Theresa S. Byrd is a graduate of Temple University Fox School of Business.  She has over 13 years of Human Resources Management experience that range developing human resources plans and programs, recruitment, employee/labor relations and benefits.

Steve Wonsiewski – Director of Admissions

Steve Wonsiewski has over twenty years of experience working in various roles within the mental health field.  After beginning his career in provider relations, Steve assisted in the development and management of the Field Case Management program of a major behavioral health management organization.  Prior to joining the Haven team, Steve spent ten years as an RN at a geriatric psych facility, working as a staff nurse, admissions coordinator, and utilization review specialist.

Steve obtained his Bachelor of Science in Psychology from LaSalle University and earned his Nursing degree from Gwynedd Mercy University.

Rachell Phillips – Director of Nursing

Rachell Phillips started her career as a direct care staff for a group home with adults with behaviors/special needs. While working with the disabled population, Phillips decided to further her education by becoming a registered nurse. Previously, she was the director of nursing in a county jail overseeing the nursing and mental health department.  Prior to that position, Phillips taught for four years in the Licensed Practical Nursing program. In addition, she worked in an ICU setting in an inner city hospital.

Phillips received her nursing degree from Helene Fuld School of Nursing in Blackwood, NJ, her Bachelor’s degree in nursing from The University of Delaware in Newark and a Master’s degree in Nursing and Health care education from University of Phoenix.

Phillips has worked as a member of the National Black Nursing Association, Chair of the Graduation committee, charge nurse, tutor for NCLEX exam, mentoring and BLS Instructor courses.

Grant Whytock – Utilization Review Director

A seasoned behavioral health professional with over 30 years of experience, Grant Whytock brings his leadership skills in hospital administration to this patient resources position.  With extensive knowledge of Utilization Management, Whytock seeks to improve the delivery of inpatient treatment in an efficient and cost-effective manner.

Elly Engel, LCSW, MSS – Director of Social Services

Elly Engel received her MSS from Bryn Mawr Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research with a concentration in clinical and occupational social work. Prior to becoming a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, she was an in-flight manager for international airlines. She witnessed negative outcomes for the employee and employer when flight attendants did not have supports in place. When the first airline went into Chapter 11, she served as Vice President of the Employee Stock Option Board of Directors and was a member of the Arbitration Committee. During her employment with the second, she was asked to be the Executive Chairperson of the union’s Peer Counseling EAP program. After extensive EAP training, she recruited other flight attendants to serve as peer counselors. She advocated and developed an international peer counseling EAP network.

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Elly has been Director of several Community Mental Health Programs and was director of Social Services, Utilization Review and In-House EAP at an Urban Hospital. She was the Administrative and the Clinical Director at a For Profit Mental Health and Substance Abuse Clinic that provided services to EAP referrals and was program manager for Military OneSource. In North Carolina, she was Regional and Clinical Director for a company which provided mental health, substance abuse and in-school Day Treatment programs. Elly has done program development, written policy and procedures, supervision, mentored, wrote budgets, etc., and provided direct service to clients to keep her skills sharp. She also completed her Ed.D. in counseling psychology.

Joanna Hopkins – Nurse Manager

Joanna Hopkins, RN, BSN, has amassed experience in various roles throughout the healthcare field in a short amount of time.

Joanna began her career at a nursing home and rehabilitation center. She served as a charge nurse and nursing supervisor at a facility that focused on geriatrics, long-term care and memory care for nearly four years. Joanna then moved on to join the Haven team as a psych charge nurse, and now the Nurse manager.

Joanna is a registered nurse that obtained her Bachelor of Science Nursing degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She also earned Bachelor of Arts degrees in psychology and sociology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

Khalil Elliott – Director of Risk Management and Performance Improvement

Khalil Elliott has experience working in the Philadelphia and New Jersey Mental Health market place.  He has extensive experience in Risk Management and Performance Improvement activities.
